Length and Width: A Modern Sans Serif for Branding Projects

I was working on a branding project for a new boutique coffee shop, and I needed a font that felt fresh but not too flashy. Something that could carry the brand’s identity across everything from the logo to packaging and social media. That’s when I came across Length and Width, an elegant and modern sans serif font that immediately caught my eye.

A First Impression

The first thing I noticed about Length and Width was how clean and minimalist it looked. It had that modern vibe that screams “professional” without being too sterile or boring. The letterforms were balanced, with subtle curves and sharp edges that gave it a bit of personality. It wasn’t just another generic sans serif—it had a unique rhythm in its strokes that made it stand out.

I tested it right away by applying it to a few logo drafts. The font didn’t feel too heavy for a small café, and it scaled well from tiny icons to large signage. I was impressed by how it maintained clarity even at smaller sizes, which is crucial for things like business cards and product labels.

Branding Across Touchpoints

Once I decided to go with Length and Width, I started integrating it into various parts of the brand identity. For the logo, I used it as the primary text, paired with a subtle drop shadow to give it depth without overwhelming the design. The result was simple yet memorable—perfect for a brand that wanted to feel approachable and modern.

On the packaging mockups, I used it for product names and short taglines. The font’s clean lines helped keep the overall look cohesive and uncluttered. Even on the shop sign, where legibility is key, Length and Width performed beautifully. It read clearly from a distance, which is something I can’t always say about other fonts I’ve tried.

For digital assets, like the website header and Instagram posts, I experimented with different weights and spacing. The font’s versatility made it easy to adapt to both bold headlines and more subdued body text. It worked especially well as a headline font, drawing attention without shouting.

Readability and Visual Hierarchy

One of the most important aspects of any font is readability, and Length and Width didn’t disappoint. Its open counters and consistent stroke widths made it highly legible, even in long paragraphs. This was a big plus for editorial design elements like menus and promotional flyers.

I also found that it played nicely with visual hierarchy. When paired with a contrasting serif font for body text, it created a nice balance between modern and traditional. This combination worked particularly well in print materials like brochures and event flyers, where a clear distinction between headings and body copy is essential.

As a display font, Length and Width had a strong presence. It wasn’t too decorative, so it didn’t clash with the brand’s minimal aesthetic. It was perfect for accentuating key messages, like special promotions or seasonal offers.

Practical Tips for Using Length and Width

If you’re considering using Length and Width in your own projects, here are a few tips I learned along the way:

Overall, Length and Width has become a go-to font for me in recent projects. Its clean, modern style fits perfectly into a wide range of design applications, from logos and packaging to web headers and social media content. Whether you're designing for a small business or a larger brand, this font brings a sense of professionalism and elegance that’s hard to ignore.
